
LOS ANGELES (KNX) — One person suffered burn injuries Monday when a fire broke out in the restaurant of a high rise building in downtown Los Angeles.
The blaze, which was reported at 8:30 a.m. in a ground floor restaurant of a 27-story building at 255 S. Grand Avenue, was quickly extinguished in about 20 minutes, according to fire officials.

LAFD said the restaurant was, undergoing renovations at the time the fire started, was the only place affected by fire, but all 27-floors of the building experienced the resulting smoke.
One man who was in the restaurant working on renovations, was taken to a hospital with "significant, critical burn injuries," Los Angeles Fire officials shared in an update.
The 27-floor building has several restaurants on the ground floor, three floors of businesses and a remaining 23 residential floors with more than 700 people living in its 391 residential units.
Fire officials received several calls for assistance from residents both in their units and stuck in building elevators. All were freed. LAFD said one woman was taken to the hospital as a precaution due to smoke exposure.
In all, a total of 120 firefighters were assigned to the fire and around 60 people were evacuated.
As of Monday afternoon no cause has been determined. The LAFD arson unit is investigating.
