What started as 500 to 600 healthcare workers protesting on the sidewalk in front of Kaiser Permanente in Hollywood dwindled down to about 25 people sitting in the middle of the street in an act of civil disobedience.

The group was sitting at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Catalina Street, blocking traffic. They were told they would have to leave by police, citing unlawful assembly, but they chose to stay despite the threat of arrest.

LAPD officers standing in solidarity with 40 Metropolitan Division officers surrounded the group and, as KNX News' Pete Demetriou reports, began arresting each protester.

23 protestors were arrested for failure to disperse and will receive a ticket and a hearing date.
