Los Angeles (KNX) - After two more stabbings occurred close to LA Metro stations, KNX News spoke with Metro Chief Safety Officer Gina Osborn to understand how confident people should be that the system is safe to ride.
Despite assurances that there have been significant improvements, citing the department's multipronged approach to increase safety, including the addition of 300 unarmed "metro ambassadors," Chief Osborn admits the system still faces challenges.
And while she says things are getting better, and her team is working hard to "make people feel confident to ride our system," Chief Osborn believes safety begins with the individual.
When asked if she would feel safe riding the system alone, Chief Osborn said, "There are times that are safer than other times" to ride, which is not exactly the strongest of endorsements.
