
UPDATE: LAPD arrested Terry Edward Scott, Jr. on Oct. 6 in relation to the crime. Scott was booked on suspicion of rape and kidnapping, according to the department.

Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department are asking the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl on Sunday, Sept. 26 in South Los Angeles.
The victim told police she was at the downtown Long Beach train station when her attacker began following her. Both she and the man rode the train at the same time, going northbound to the Los Angeles area, according to police.

They then separately transferred to the same MTA bus and got off near the intersection of Vernon Avenue and San Pedro Street in South L.A.
Police said that’s when the suspect took the opportunity to take advantage of the girl.
The teen told police that the man approached her from behind, grabbed her by the neck and forced her into the parking lot of an apartment building where he threatened to kill her before he raped her.

The suspect is described as a 35-year-old black man with dreadlocks and brown eyes. The victim told police he stands about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds with a muscular build. Police said he was last seen wearing a white shirt and black pants.
