On the day of the shooting, officers responded to a call shortly before 9:30 p.m. reporting gunshots near the 500 block of East Broadway. Witnesses directed officers to an apartment where Ogletree was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Paramedics pronounced Ogletree dead at the scene.

It was later discovered that there was a small group inside the apartment unit when a verbal altercation allegedly broke out between Shaw and Ogletree. The conflict escalated, at which point Shaw allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Ogletree three times in the upper and lower body.

Detectives identified Shaw as a suspect early on and served search warrants at residences in Pacoima and in Turlock. The latter led to the recovery of evidence investigators believe linked Shaw to the murder.

Shaw was arrested during a traffic stop in Turlock. He was booked Friday on one count of Murder, and was being held as of Saturday in lieu of $2 million bail.

Investigators have not yet revealed a possible motive for the shooting, but believe Shaw and the victim were familiar with one another.

Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to call Long Beach police at (562) 570-7244. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous may call the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
