While crews were working to knock down the fire, the same man suspected of starting it walked a few yards away and started a second fire among wood and debris. The suspect did so in plain view, a battalion chief at the scene told City News Service.

Firefighters quickly knocked down both fires and requested assistance from county arson investigators and sheriff’s deputies.

The suspect reportedly stayed in the area for a time but fled after the second fire was extinguished, officials said.

The suspect, described as a male transient, was said to be standing at around six feet and two inches tall, with a thin build, wearing a brown long-sleeved shirt and dark pants.

As of 11 a.m, deputies were still searching for him.
