Pedestrian dies after Long Beach hit-and-run

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run in Long Beach has died at a hospital, and police Wednesday sought the public's help to find the motorist.

Paramedics sent to Atlantic Avenue and Market Street at about 9:15 p.m. Friday took the man to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

On Tuesday, detectives were notified that the man had died, police said. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.

"The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Atlantic Avenue," police said in a statement.
