A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed in the Harbor Gateway area of Los Angeles, authorities said Friday.
The 52-year-old man was injured about 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Vermont Avenue and Knox Street, and he died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
According to police, the man was hit by a beige BMW SUV that was northbound on Vermont Avenue. The 42-year-old man driving the SUV was detained for questioning, police said.
