Pedestrian killed by train in Van Nuys area

LOS ANGELES (KNX) – A pedestrian was killed by a Metrolink train in the Van Nuys area Tuesday morning.

It happened around 5:40 a.m. near W. Roscoe and Balboa boulevards, according to CBS L.A.

Details regarding the victim have not been released at this time.

Following the collision, Metrolink announced the tracks closed on its Facebook page, writing, “VC Line tracks are closed between Northridge and Van Nuys due to train 100 striking a person on the track.”

Scott Johnson of Metrolink told City News Service that 40 people were on board the train at the time of the collision and that alternate transportation was being arranged for them.

No injuries were reported from those who were onboard the train.
