Police search for thieves seen stealing $10k from business owner in downtown L.A.

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A small business owner hopes police find three men suspected of stealing cash from inside her vehicle as she cleaned up after a day of work.

Jess, who feared providing her last name for retaliation, owns a small business selling pet products. She said she earned money selling items at a weekend pop-up event at Row DTLA.

After filing a police report with Los Angeles Police Department, Jess hopes the three men spotted on surveillance footage are arrested. The footage shows them take her mother's purse — filled with money — from the front seat of her car, place it in a black trash bag, and walk away.

"It was very heartbreaking to watch that," Jess said. "It's traumatizing to think about it right now. But, it was my mom's whole entire identity in there. Not just the money and the cash, but her ID, pictures of us as a family."

Jess's mother put the purse in the car to help her daughter clean up after the event. That's when the thieves made off with her mother's cell phone, other belongings, and what she estimates was about $10,000.

"She feels guilty for losing the cash I had made that day," Jess said.
