A massive tree branch fell in the front yard of a Sun Valley home early Monday morning, crushing two cars and barely missing the family’s house.
The tree came crashing down around 2 a.m. Monday, the home’s resident told KNX News’ Jon Baird.
“Just like [an] earthquake, like something is dropping, like boom,” she recalled.

She said her husband, daughter, son, and grandchildren were all home at the time. Her son ran outside and found the two cars in the yard smashed by the fallen branch.
Another branch had previously fallen from this tree and crushed a truck. They had called the city of Los Angeles for help, but were told there was no funding to remove the tree, the resident said.
The house is just a few blocks away from the I-5 freeway, which was closed for several hours due to flooding and debris. Some northbound lanes remain closed as of Monday morning.
