LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department Tuesday identified a suspect they believe to be connected to the fatal stabbing of a woman in Hancock Park.
The department shared images of 31-year-old Shawn Laval Smith, who investigators have identified in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Brianna Kupfer, according to an LAPD tweet. The department said Smith should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him should immediately call 911.

Kupfer was fatally stabbed to death in the 300 block of North La Brea Avenue, while working alone at the Croft House furniture store last Thursday.
The LAPD, in conjunction with L.A. City Councilman Paul Koretz, announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the UCLA grad student's killer. The sum quickly grew to more than $250,00 due to private and public donors, Koretz told KNX.
Hoping that someone would recognize him, LAPD released surveillance footage of a suspect believed to be involved in Kupfer's death.
Late Tuesday, LAPD shared the update that the suspect had been identified as Smith and remained at large.
Smith is said to have been in Pasadena, Santa Monica, West Hollywood Covina, San Diego, San Francisco and several other locations around Southern California recently.
"He is likely to be using public transportation," LAPD said. "Special attention should be given to bus stops and train platforms."
Anyone with information about Smith's whereabouts is asked to contact LAPD's West Bureau Homicide team at 213-382-9470.
