LOS ANGELES (KNX) – The Federal Aviation Administration revoked a YouTuber influencer’s private pilot certificate after determining he crashed his plane on purpose.

The incident, which took place in November, was posted to Trevor Jacob’s YouTube page in December. The nearly 13-minute video of him flying an aircraft over the Los Padres National Forest in California garnered almost 2 million views.

There were cameras attached outside and inside the aircraft.

At one point in the video, it appeared there was a malfunction and Jacob jumped out of the aircraft with a parachute.

In a letter obtained by multiple outlets, the FAA claimed that Jacob left the side door pilot open before claiming the engine failed and that he didn’t contact air traffic control nor did he look for a place to land.

“You jumped out of N29508 while holding a camera attached to a selfie stick and continued to record the aircraft during your descent,” the FAA said, addressing Jacob. “After the crash you recovered and then disposed of the wreckage… and recovered the cameras that you had attached to N29508 prior this flight.”

The FAA called Jacob “careless” and said they are revoking his pilot license.

While Jacob has not released a public statement, he told CBS News, “The FAA brought up some astonishing observations."
