WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KNX) — In-person services at West Hollywood City Hall were closed Friday as the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigates a potential shooting at the building.

City Council Member Lindsey P. Horvath shared the City's statement, explaining that around 2 a.m. a glass window on the building's Santa Monica Boulevard-facing side was shattered by "what appears to be a single bullet fired from a passing car."

"The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating this incident, and I fully support their efforts to keep us all safe. The safety of our community is the top priority for our City," Horvath tweeted.

"City Hall will be closed today as the investigation continues. I am grateful that no one was physically injured. I remain steadfast in my support for our local law enforcement to bring safety to our community and to ensure that anyone involved is brought to justice."

West Hollywood's City Hall building is expected to reopen for in-person appointments on Tuesday, the city said in a statement. That follows the Monday closure for President's Day.

"The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating this incident," the city said. "Members of the public with any information are encouraged to contact the West Hollywood Station at (310) 855-8850."
