On Saturday at 10:10 p.m., officers with the Long Beach Police Department responded to an injury traffic collision in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and River Avenue.

A female pedestrian was found in the roadway. Officers were able to provide her aid until she was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. On Wednesday, she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not been revealed at this time.

Detectives later determined that a 2005 Dodge Durango was driving westbound on Pacific Coast Highway at River Avenue. The woman was crossing the road, outside the crosswalk, when she was hit by the Dodge.

The driver of the Dodge stopped the car and attempted to help the woman. Officers said he was stayed at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.

“At this time, neither speed, impaired nor distracted driving, appear to be a factor in this collision,” the department said.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is urged to contact Detective K. Myers or Detective S. Loughlin of the Long Beach Police Department’s Collision Investigation Detail at (562)570-7355.
