Spirit Airlines shared on Thursday morning that it is experiencing “a technical issue” that the company warns is resulting in “longer lines than usual” for passengers.
The budget airline is asking its passengers to plan on arriving at the airport “early” to be best prepared for delays, as the company says its website, app, and airport kiosks are unavailable.
The airline said in its statement that passengers looking for up-to-date flight information should visit FlightAware.com.
The cause of the issue has not been made known at this time, but on Twitter, several passengers have shared their frustrations with outages which may be causing delays.
One person said they were “stuck on a plane for 2 hours not taking off.”
Another claimed they were forced to deplane before re-boarding three hours after the scheduled takeoff time.
As of 10:30 a.m. EST the issue did not appear to be resolved. The airline has not shared if the delays reported on Twitter were caused by the technical issue or not.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
