When officers arrived, an individual was seen attempting to keep the dogs away from the 59-year-old man. Officers provided first aid to the man, who was taken to an area hospital where he died.

His identity has not been revealed at this time.

Officers were able to capture and quarantine the dogs with the help of an Animal Control Officer, the department said. The department posted a video of the dogs’ capture on its Facebook page.

Further investigation revealed the dogs escaped from a residence nearby and attacked the man while he was walking. The department said one of the dogs bit the individual who tried to help the man. Their injuries were minor.

The owner of the dogs is cooperating with the investigation, officers said.
