Remarkably, no one was hurt when a car smashed into a stairwell at a Plano apartment building near West Park and Independence Parkway Tuesday.
Firefighters were called when a silver Nissan Altima smashed into the corner of the landing of the staircase going to the second level.
The sharp concrete and metal framework smashed through the windshield but fortunately it was closer to the passenger side so the driver was not hurt.
Before the car could be moved, firefighters had to prop up the landing to keep it from a complete collapse. Once that was accomplished, the car was loaded aboard a tow rig and hauled away.
