
The Texas Supreme Court has weighed in on the mask mandate fight and the Governor's ban on mask mandates stands, for now. But in Dallas county, not everyone plans to obey that ruling.
The Texas Supreme Court sided with Texas Governor Greg Abbott by issuing a stay in the legal battle over mask mandates in Texas.
The Texas Supreme Court appears to halt the mask requirements put in place by County leaders in Dallas and San Antonio. But Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins says the stay didn’t strike down his mask order.
Jenkins says he’s amending the order to remove the possibility of fines on non-compliant businesses, but it remains in place.
And despite the ruling, kids in the Dallas ISD are headed back to school today and superintendent Michael Hinojosa says masks are are required on all DISD campuses.
More than 200 Dallas ISD schools are welcoming students back today for the first time in more than a year.
Other districts, like Garland and Irving, have said they will not have mask mandates in place.
