An Ellis County man will spend the next half-century behind bars after pleading guilty to sexually abusing two teenage girls.

William Lawrence Davis II, 36, was sentenced to 50 years in prison in one case and 20 years in the other, with the sentences running concurrently.

Ellis County District Attorney Ann Montgomery says Davis repeatedly sexually abused a girl from January of 2018 to July of 2019 when she was 13 and 14-years-old.

After he was captured, another woman came forward to say that Davis sexually assaulted her when she was 14.

"This entrusted adult preyed upon innocent children," Montgomery said. "These young ladies should have had the opportunity to grow up without having to encounter Davis' criminal sexual behavior. With this plea, two families can finally live in peace knowing that this predator is behind bars."

The case was originally set to go to trial in December of 2020, but it had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
