
FC Dallas has started pre-season matches, and the club is getting ready for its regular-season opener at home versus Toronto on February 26. Last year, FC Dallas finished 11th in the Western Conference with 33 points.
"This is an exciting new era at FC Dallas, new coaching staff, new players," FC Dallas President Dan Hunt said.
Hunt said he is looking forward to large crowds and a more competitive season at Toyota Stadium in Frisco.
"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to start the season again," Hunt said. "What I've seen in the pre-season has been so exciting."
This year, Legends Hospitality will be debuting nine new items at concessions stands. Among them is the Monster Taco, a crispy, 12-inch flour tortilla with shredded barbacoa, shredded cheese, lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and hot sauce.
"It's in a pizza box, so it's probably going to get messy, but it'll be worth it," Executive Chef Rex Turner said.
Turner said he experiments with new ideas during the season and narrows the list during the winter, perfecting recipes using trial and error.
"I try to build flavors through different textures and tastes," Turner said.
Among other items is "Firecracker Chicken on a Stick," which is chicken breast stuffed with smoked cheddar cheese and jalapeno, wrapped in bacon and slow-smoked over Texas oak. Firecracker Chicken on a Stick is served with habanero sauce.
"It's a habanero ranch, so it's spicy but it's also creamy so it cools you off at the end," Turner said. "I don't want to kill people with the spice. I want them to be able to taste what they're eating."
Turner said he focuses on taste, and he aims to develop items that can be served easily in a stadium and shared among a group. He said fans also need the ability to walk with a dish back to their seats and pass it around.
"I want to do something different, something exciting," Turner said.
