
A driver who was pulled over by Bedford, Texas, police early Saturday morning began a shootout that resulted in his death and injured a victim who was sitting in the officers’ patrol vehicle.

According to the Dallas Police Department, they sent officers to assist the Bedford Police Department at the 2300 block of N. Stemmons Freeway at approximately 1:21 a.m. Saturday. When the driver came to a stop he began shooting at the Bedford officers.
One of the bullets struck a male passenger inside the patrol car. He was transported to a hospital and remains in stable condition.
Bedford police returned fire and shot the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A male passenger who was in the suspect’s car exited the vehicle and surrendered.
Dallas Sheriffs also assisted officers at the scene and no Dallas Police Department officers were involved in the shooting. No law enforcement officers were injured.
“This remains an ongoing investigation and information is limited,” Dallas police said.
