The Texans continue to reshape their linebacker group with the signing of Kevin Pierre-Louis.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Pierre-Louis is signing a two-year contract with a maximum value of $8 million.
Pierre-Louis had 56 tackles and one sack last season for the Washington Football Team. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Boston College and spent three seasons in Seattle.
The Seahawks traded Pierre-Louis to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017. He then signed a two-year deal with the New York Jets in 2018, but was suspended the first game of the season for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.
Pierre-Louis spent 2019 with the Chicago Bears and played for Washington in 2019.
For his career, Pierre-Louis has two sacks, eight tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits and 184 tackles.
The Texans' linebacker group is undergoing major changes as the scheme under Lovie Smith switches to a 4-3. First-year general manager Nick Caserio is also trying to stockpile affordable contracts to create some depth on the roster.
Just since Friday, the Texans have agreed to sign veteran linebacker Christian Kirksey, traded Benardrick McKinney to the Dolphins for edge rusher Shaq Lawson, and agreed to deal with former Cowboys linebacker Joe Thomas and former Patriots, Eagles and Dolphins linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, who Caserio drafted in New England five years ago.
