
(SportsRadio 610) - Despite recently being at odds with the Texans' coaching staff, the off-field recognition continues to pour in for safety Justin Reid.
The Houston Sports Awards is honoring Reid for his work away from the field as the 2022 Sportsmanship Award winner.
Earlier this month, Reid was nominated by the Texans for The Houston Texans announced Justin Reid as the team's nominee for the 2021 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. Considered the league's most prestigious honor, the award recognizes an NFL player for outstanding community service activities off the field, as well as excellence on the field.
Reid was benched for one game after a disagreement with team leadership, which head coach David Culley described as a violation of team rules and standards.
But it's well understood Reid is active in giving back his time to the community. As recently as last month, Reid helped raise $10,000 for survivors of domestic violence.
The Houston Sports Awards is an annual star-studded awards show that brings together the city's top athletes to commemorate, celebrate and recognize the year's sports achievements, sports icons, performers, and moments.
The awards show is scheduled for Feb. 3, 2022 at Wortham Theater.
