HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- When Texans safety Justin Reid speaks with the media, it's not uncommon for broader questions about football to be asked and answered.

So on Thursday, Reid was asked about the impact of his teammates' PED suspensions, his thoughts on the chaotic week from Thanksgiving to the day, and the NFL's diversity initiatives for leadership roles in the league.

Last month, the NFL approved a resolution to reward teams with draft picks if one of their minority coaches, or someone in personnel gets hired by another team as head coach or general manager.

Reid said he believed the efforts are well-intended, but admitted he needed to give the question more thought.

One thing he was clear about: his respect for Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who is black, and widely considered a top head coaching candidate in 2021.

The Texans are in the market for a head coach, and the third-year safety said he would love to see Bieniemy in Houston.

"I’m rooting for Eric Bieniemy, whether he’s here or somewhere else," Reid said. "I follow his career a lot. I think he’s a phenomenal coach. I would love to have him here, but he’d be happy anywhere too."
