HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- The Texans are scheduled to interview Buffalo Bills director of pro personnel Malik Boyd for their open general manager position, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Boyd is a Houston native and graduate of Smiley High School. He was a defensive back for the Minnesota Vikings in 1994, when Tony Dungy was his defensive coordinator.
Boyd has been with the Bills since 2017. He started his scouting career with the Indianapolis Colts in 2003, then spent 11 years with the Arizona Cardinals' scouting department. Boyd was an area and regional scout before becoming assistant director of pro scouting for the Cardinals.
The Fritz Pollard Alliance awarded Boyd 2014 NFC Scout of the Year.
This is the third known candidate for Texans general manager. The team announced interviews with ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Louis Riddick and their own current director of player personnel Matt Bazirgan.
Boyd's connections to the Texans go beyond simply being from Houston. Dungy and Rod Graves, who was the general manager in Arizona when Boyd worked there, are both advisors to Cal McNair and the Texans in their general manager and head coach searches.
