It’s the All-Star break, so why not have a little MLB potpourri? MLB Network’s Brian Kenny joined the Sports Junkies Tuesday morning to discuss the impact of rule changes so far, robot umps, Shohei Ohtani’s future, and some of the surprise teams (good and bad), including the Orioles.
He also had one big thought on the Nationals: they are trending in the right direction.
“I think they are – they’re like six games behind the Mets, which shouldn’t be!” Kenny laughed. “It really shows that not everyone has blossomed, but you need to have patience; MacKenzie Gore and C.J. Abrams are below league average, but you have to be patient. That’s not sexy, but if you want sexy, look at the Cincinnati Reds right now. Mike Rizzo has shown he can draft and mix-and-match, and it will take a few years, but it is more sustainable.”
