The Sports Junkies collectively agreed on a threshold that they wouldn’t cross in a trade for Chase Young, saying a fourth or fifth round pick wouldn’t be enough to give up on Young’s potential.
But a third rounder?
“I would,” Cakes said. “Right now, I would.”
Lurch was in full agreement.
“A third rounder, not all third rounders are starters. But they can be a starter,” Lurch said. “They can be an impact player immediately. A fourth or fifth rounder, I’d rather wait and see what I have.”
Best case scenario would be that Young stays with the team and gets back to where he was as a rookie, but if a third round pick was offered, even a late third, The Junkies are accepting.
“I have him under control for this year, and he’s in a prove-it year,” Cakes said. “If he goes out and gets 11 sacks, he’s bought in…then you can think about having him in the fold long-term.
“They had success picking in the third round with Terry McLaurin and Antonio Gibson. So yes.”
