Chicago Police officer stabbed by knife-wielding burglary suspect

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Chicago police officer was attacked while responding to a burglary on the South Side Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to a Woodlawn home near 61st and Vernon around 12:15 p.m. for reports of a burglary. That’s where they saw a man taking several items from the home.

Chicago Police said the 56-year-old suspect approached the officers while wielding a knife, injuring one of them.

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital for cuts to their arm and head.
They’re listed in good condition.

The suspect was arrested and charges are pending.
