CTA bus driver stabbed trying to stop pickpocketer in Lincoln Park

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A CTA bus driver is recovering after Chicago Police say he was stabbed last night while trying to stop a robbery.

The 37 year-old driver caught a man attempting to pickpocket another rider in Lincoln Park around 9:20 p.m. while traveling in the 300 block of North Avenue, police said.

When the driver approached the man in an attempt to prevent the theft, the suspect then stabbed the driver in the hand and fled, according to police. He was later found and taken into custody.

The driver was then taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.
