WILMETTE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Wilmette man’s dead body was discovered early Wednesday evening in Lake Michigan.
Police said a paddleboarder at Gillson Park, 50-100 yards offshore, alerted law enforcement shortly after 5 p.m. when he saw the body in the water.
Early indications are the man, identified as being 56-years-old and resident of Wilmette, had not been in the water for very long nor were there clear signs of trauma, Police Chief Kyle Murphy said.
As part of the police’s investigation, the Cook County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.
