(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Mayor Lightfoot once again has been caught on a so-called hot mic making a disparaging remark, but she says it's not what it appears.
This time, it's what they call an F-bomb.
During the City Council's acknowledgement Wednesday of Black History Month, Ald. Rossana Rodriguez Sanchez (33rd) said she appreciates the contributions African Americans have made to Chicago and the nation.
As she concluded, you could hear Lightfoot saying: "You've got to be (expletive) kidding me."
At a news conference later, the mayor said she was reacting to something else.
"Sorry to disappoint the Twitter trolls, but my comment had nothing to do with anything that was actually going on with City Council," Lightfoot told reporters.
The mayor said she talked with Ald. Rodriguez Sanchez and she accepted the explanation.
Soon after her election, Mayor Lightfoot muttered an insult about a police union official during a council meeting while her microphone was on.
She later apologized for calling him a "clown" — out loud.
