CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police are trying to find the driver of an SUV that hit and killed a man on the South Side Monday night.
The man was crossing the street just after 10 p.m. at 79th and South Lafayette when, police said, he was hit by a white Dodge Durango in a crosswalk.
The man was dead at the scene.
The driver and passengers – four or five people - ran away, leaving the Durango at the scene.
It’s not clear if the SUV had been stolen earlier or whether the registration might lead to the identity of the driver.
Police only say nobody is in custody.
