CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Paul Vallas is moving on to the April runoff election, and vowing to bring new and powerful leadership to Chicago.
Speaking to supporters at the West Loop’s City Hall shortly after advancing to the mayoral runoff, Vallas doubled down on a top campaign priority.
“Public safety is the fundamental right of every American. It is a civil right…We will have a safe Chicago. We will make Chicago the safest city in America,” Vallas proclaimed.
The Democrat said engaging with police with their community and investing in Chicago’s schools and underserved neighborhoods is just one way he hopes to make that a reality.
“I’ve had success because I’ve always had the good sense to listen to the community, to empower the community and draw my leadership from the community,” Vallas said.
He also vowed to protect a woman’s right to choose, LGBTQ rights and the safety of immigrants.
Vallas told supporters to buckle up for a wild and hopefully successful ride to the runoff.
