(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has tested positive for COVID-19, his office announced Tuesday.

The governor’s office said in a press release that Pritzker is experiencing mild symptoms and has been prescribed Paxlovid, an antiviral medication.

Pritzker is fully vaccinated and received two booster shots, according to his office.

The governor has recently been traveling up and down the East Coast, where he’s been stumping for Democratic candidates in the lead-up to the 2022 midterm elections.

Most recently, he was in Florida, where he headlined the Florida Democratic Party’s annual leadership Blue Gala.

Pritzker will be working from home while he recovers from COVID, his office said.
