(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An accused burglar tried to make a getaway with a stolen grill in his pickup truck, Lake County authorities say.
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday night responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 37100 block of North Green Bay Road in Beach Park. The resident there said someone had broken into his shed and stole a barbecue grill, officials said.
A deputy observed a Chevrolet Silverado with a grill in the bed of the pickup truck and conducted a traffic stop. That led authorities to believe the driver, 63-year-old Thomas Anderson of Beach Park, had stolen the cooking device.
Prosecutors approved burglary, criminal damage to property and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia charges against Anderson. He was being held at the Lake County Jail; no further details were available.
