CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A man injured himself breaking into a place of worship in Chicago's Loop just after midnight on Thursday morning.

Chicago police said the 37-year-old man began breaking out the front windows and doors of I AM Temple, located in the heart of downtown on the 100 block of West Washington Street.

Once in the lobby, police said the man “ransacked” the area and allegedly began flipping furniture and other items.

Police said the man was taken into custody and then taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for evaluation and injuries to his hands.

CPD said the doors to the temple appeared to be cracked later Thursday morning.
