CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Loyola University is warning its students and staff about an armed robbery that happened near campus overnight.

According to Loyola's campus safety director, two students were walking in the paved alley alongside the CTA tracks between Albion and Loyola Avenues when a white car pulled up behind them. Two people got out of the car, showed handguns and demanded the students turn over their wallets, cellphones and backpacks.

They did and the armed robbers then drove away. Campus safety is working with the Chicago Police Department to find the gunmen.

In the meantime, the university advises the Loyola community to follow demands and then run away when safe if ever in a threatening situation.
