Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - Some fans are earning money by shoveling inside Highmark Stadium prior to the start of Monday's playoff game between the Bills and Steelers. One shoveler is sharing his story with WBEN.
Jay Crawford says there are about 100 shovelers, with the Bills requesting more to shovel walkways at the stadium. He says many of the stairs are cleared, but snow is falling off seat edges and back into the aisles.
Crawford says he's been trying to get to the stadium since last night. "I live in Hamburg, and I could not get out of my driveway. I ended up getting stuck. So I left my car in the driveway and got up this morning and actually had someone helped me get out. They towed me out and then I came right here and I've been here since 9:30," says Crawford.
Crawford says with seats filled with snow, fans can expect to stand. He says crews have been asked to focus on walkways instead of clearing seats.
Shovelers are earning $20 per hour.
