NEW YORK (AP) — Police say an 82-year-old New York City taxi driver struck and killed a woman as she was crossing a Manhattan street.
Daniel Fusaro faced charges Friday of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to yield to a pedestrian – 77-year-old Iris Crespo, who died of injuries to her head and body.
She was walking in the Chelsea neighborhood on Thursday afternoon when the cab plowed past a crosswalk at West 22nd Street and Eighth Avenue.
Police say Fusaro kept on driving before hitting a parked car. He was arrested and also charged with failure to obey a traffic signal.
Fusaro was awaiting arraignment on Friday. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
