NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Citi Bike is offering some free rides to the city’s NYCHA residents and SNAP recipients beginning Monday.
Eligible New Yorkers can pick up a gift certificate at one of 55 libraries participating public libraries.
The certificates will allow residents to use Citi Bike’s bike sharing program, free of charge for a 30-day period.
The promotion is part of a collaboration between the bike sharing company and New York’s public library system. It comes one year after the Lyft-owned company introduced its Reduced Fare Bike Share program, offering $5 memberships for NYCHA residents and SNAP recipients.
About 3,500 low-income New Yorkers already take advantage of the program introduced last year.
