BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- Police on Long Island got to play cowboys Monday morning after a horse got loose from a farm.

Suffolk County police received multiple 911 calls around 7:30 a.m. about a horse running on Sunrise Highway between exits 57 and 56 in Brookhaven.

The 30-year-old thoroughbred, named Oppie, had escaped from Rockaby Farms after a tree fell and damaged its pen.

A highway patrol officer and deputy sheriff along with the horse's caretaker secured the animal minutes later and brought it back to the farm.
