NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Skaters in Central Park may notice something missing from the park's two ice rinks this winter — President Donald Trump's name.
As a new skating season arrives, the Trump name has largely vanished around Lasker and Wollman rinks, which the Trump Organization has run since a makeover back in the 1980s.
The change was first reported by the Washington Post, which said that the change was not sought by the city.
The Trump Organization informed the city parks department of the change in signage over the summer.
The rink rescue is a major piece of the Trump legend. The Trump Organization still operates the rinks under a concession from the city but it has rebranded them.
While a reason for the rebranding was not given, one employee told the Post they believe it's because the Trump signs were hurting business.
Trump Organization representatives did not respond to a request for comment.
