NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 19-year-old woman was killed in New Jersey late Sunday when a deer bolted in front of the Jeep she was in and caused a two-vehicle crash—the second fatal crash blamed on deer in the state within hours.
The woman, who has not been identified, was a passenger in a Jeep traveling on Route 94, near Yellow Frame Road, in Newtown Township on Sunday night.
A deer darted out in front of the Jeep, which veered into an approaching car in the oncoming lane, the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office told NJ.com.
The collision killed the 19-year-old, while the driver of the Jeep was not seriously injured.
An 18-year-old man driving the car suffered serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to Morristown Medical Center. His condition Monday wasn't immediately known.

First assistant prosecutor Greg Mueller, of the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office, told NJ.com that it doesn’t appear alcohol, drugs or speed were contributing factors in the crash.
The crash came the same day that a 63-year-old woman was killed when a deer crashed through the windshield of her Kia Soul in Gloucester County on Sunday evening.
Karen Juliano was traveling on Route 47, near Malaga Terrace, in Franklin Township around 5:15 p.m. when the deer ran into the road and collided with the Kia. The impact sent the deer through the windshield, into the passenger area and out the rear windshield.
Juliano was found dead in the car. An investigation is ongoing, police said.
