FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A New Jersey woman was killed by a deer that smashed through her windshield as she was driving in Gloucester County on Sunday evening—one of two fatal crashes in the state blamed on deer in one day.
Karen Juliano, 63, was traveling on Route 47, near Malaga Terrace, in Franklin Township around 5:15 p.m. when the deer ran into the road and collided with her Kia Soul, police said.

An investigation found the force of the impact threw the deer into the Kia’s front windshield. The animal entered the passenger area of the vehicle and exited through the rear windshield.
Juliano, of Newfield, was found dead in the vehicle with both windshields shattered, Franklin Township Deputy Police Chief Matthew DeCesari told NJ.com.
Police said an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
On Sunday night, a 19-year-old woman was killed in Newtown when a deer bolted in front of the Jeep she was in, causing the vehicle to swerve into an oncoming car. The driver of the Jeep was seriously injured, while the driver of the car didn’t require medical attention.
