NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was fatally struck by an unlicensed driver after he pulled over in Queens due to his minivan making a "strange noise," police said Thursday.

Jose Tejada, 58, pulled his 2006 Dodge Caravan to the side of the road on Linden Place near 28th Avenue around 4:50 p.m. because of the sound.

As the victim inspected his car, the 20-year-old driver of a 2020 GMC Terrain changed lanes to pass a truck and struck Tejada and his double parked Caravan.

Tejada was taken to NY Presbyterian Hospital-Queens, where he was pronounced dead.

Arturo Jimenez, the Terrain's driver, remained at the scene, according to police. He was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

An investigation remains ongoing.
