Robber shoots man leaving Staten Island deli, steals car

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a suspect they say shot a man in the leg and briefly stole his car on Staten Island Sunday.

The 34-year-old victim was leaving Keshi’s Deli at 220 Port Richmond Ave. just before 2:20 a.m. when the armed robber approached him, police said.

When the victim got to the vehicle, the suspect approached him from behind with a gun in hand. The two got into a brief struggle before the suspect fired the gun and hit the victim in his left thigh, authorities said.

After shooting the victim, the attacker took off in his vehicle. The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition.

Authorities recovered the victim’s vehicle in Queens on Tuesday.

The suspect is described as having a dark skin complexion, approximately 30 to 40 years of age, medium build, with black long hair in dreadlocks and last seen wearing a black shirt with the word "King" in front of it, gray faded jeans and  black sneakers.
