
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police have launched an investigation after a woman was found dead in her NYCHA apartment in Queens of apparent strangulation early Monday.
Just after 1 a.m., police responded to a 911 call inside of an apartment at the South Jamaica Houses located at 108-41 159th St. in Jamaica.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 62-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive inside of the apartment.
She had hemorrhaging in her eyes, a sign she had likely been strangled, police sources told the Daily News.
EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
No arrests have been made and an investigation remains ongoing.
