NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Police said Wednesday that they’re investigating the death of a Queens man found in his “trashed” Queens apartment with blood coming from his mouth.
The 61-year-old victim was discovered dead Tuesday evening in his apartment near 21st Street and 35th Avenue at the Ravenswood Houses in Astoria.
NYPD officers responding to a 911 call around 6:45 p.m. found him unresponsive.
He had no visible signs of trauma, but blood was coming out of his mouth, police said.
The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how he died as the investigation continues.
The NYPD withheld the victim’s name pending the notification of his family, but his son told the Daily News that his father was a longtime Astoria resident from Puerto Rico who has four children.
He said his father’s “house was trashed” when his son-in-law “found him on the floor, all purple, lying in his own blood.” He’d been dead for at least a couple days, his son said.
