Woman shot in chest while caught in crossfire of Queens gun battle

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman was shot by a stray bullet during a gun battle on a Queens street Wednesday evening, police said.

The woman was on a sidewalk at 142nd Street and Linden Boulevard in South Jamaica just before 8 p.m. when a bullet struck her in the chest, according to police.

The victim told police that shooters in two vehicles were firing at each other when she became caught in the crossfire.

The victim, whose age wasn’t immediately known, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Police don't believe she was the intended target.

No arrests have been reported.

Three men were fatally shot or stabbed overnight across the city, including a man who was found shot to death in a vehicle in South Jamaica.
